YAY! finally they are actually doing something positive. before now they only ever attended the Cardiff Mardi Gras and that was it. homophobia in welsh schools is quite big, so it's good to see them finally acting on it.

Thanx for posting this Spence. I wasn't aware of this, and being welsh,(from just outside Cardiff!)and big in to all gay 'news', I should have known about this.
It's good that Stonewall Cymru have finally come in to their own at last.
And sorry to add this here, but I just viewed your profile, have you actually been to Cardiff Mardi Gras, because if you have at 13, that's a big achievment, out, loud, and proud @13. If you haven't been, don't worry, we'll be there for a few years yet LOL
*hugs to you little one*

omg wow thats so amazing that finally Wales could be getting on the way to anti-homophobia...its such a shame that many people are homophobic there...dont understand it myself as its completly different on its views compared to England but its attached as one big land mass lol Yay for the welsh
Jay xxx
We could all take a lesson from crayons - some are bright, some are beautiful, some are dull, some are short, some are tall, and some have wierd names...But they all have to learn to live in the same box.

I personally wouldn't say wales is anymore homophobic than england, but, then again, it is in places. Unfortunatley Wales has great masses of deprived areas, and I personally find that it is in these places where Homophobia and Nieavity (I can't spell sorry) to the Homosexual way of life lays. It is a lack of both Education and understanding, and very much a case of upbringing. Stonewall teaching that it's okay to be gay now, will wipe out homophobia in the children of our future!

We keep our fingers firmly crossed. I think the key to it, though, is not to go about irradicating homophobia, but instead to make it ok to be gay, as Lilac suggested. There is a slight difference. For example, the black rights movement wanted equal rights for black people, and as a result they are now accepted as a part of society. If instead they had demanded an end to racism, then they would still be outcasts, but no-one could say anthing about it. Whatever happens, there will never be an end to homophobia, but people will, hopefully, one day become more accepting.
