Oh gaawd oh gaawd oh gaawd. I'm starting high school this year!
And I'm scared.
How does high school differ from middle school?
And here's my schedule:
Period 0: HS Band
Period 1: Honors Geometry
Period 2: Gym/Biology Lab/Health (depends on the day)
Period 3: Honors Biology
Period 4: Honors History 9 World Studies
Period 5: Honors Spanish II
Period 6: Lunch/HS Chorus
Period 7: Honors English 9
Period 8: Journalism I and II
Am I going to be too overloaded with work?
Are people more ass-holish in high school?
And finally, uniforms. We have them this year. How do I work around that?
Sorry for so many questions!

I didn't have middle school, but I can tell you that high schoolers can be assholes. Uniforms... Not sure if there's actually a loophole to that, but maybe you can talk to the principal?
High school is big and scary, and you will get lost(me thinks its a big high school there, but mine was just one corridor, so I'm not sure about this one), but on the first few weeks, you'll meet people you have the same interest with(as long as you become yourself).
Warning though: First impressions leave a big mark. Try to stay under the bully radar, but that might be hard being LGBT. Then just be yourself and... ignore the assholes.

"Its always just gonna be the sidelines for a kid who can't find it in themselves to take up the challenge and do something about a problem. Instead of putting them first, why didn't you put yourself first? Now you just lost more than you could have gained"

first of all, calm the floop down.
I'm going into sophomore year, so freshman year's still imprinted (burned) into my mind. I didn't have a whole lot of problems with bullying, but be prepared to have some HORRIBLE teachers. More than any other kind, high school teachers suck because they've learned to hate high school students. That's not true of all of them, of course. Some will be quite nice, but there'll always be the occasional teacher who grades you on how much they like you instead of on how well you do. The trick is not to stand out in those classes too much.
Not that High school's all bad. You get a lot less homework and classwork, and there are more projects. And going into a new school always gives you the chance to make new friends. You'll meet some people you don't like, and some people you love. Just have fun and work hard.
good luck!

Haha, I'll admit, it's a little funny reading this, because I totally freaked this time last year for the same reasons, but I was doing it a million times more. But, I can tell you with great certainty that you will survive.
You just sort of have to find those people who you can hang out with and be yourself around. Personally, that took me half the year, since I was new at my school. Oh, and learn what your teachers are like. You'll probably have some you can talk to for real, and then some you want to avoid like the plague. Uniforms are a bit hard to get around, but once you fall into step with things, you can see what you can and can't get away with. Older students are a huge help with that too, even if you don't directly talk to them. Speaking of which, having a couple older friends will help with being able to find stuff around the hallways, and chances are if you find one who shares your interest, they'll be especially sympathetic since it is your first year and they've been there. (Mine were great for helping me out, and I'm going into sophomore year knowing a lot of what to expect.) Oh, and for geometry, keep good notes early on. The postulates and theorems you learn at the very beginning will either save you, or be the bane of your existence. As for avoiding bullies, just acting with a little bit of confidence helps. I was scared sh*tless my first day, but I didn't show it and no one bothered me. I'm not saying be cocky, but act like how it is: you have a right to be there.
Anyway, you'll end up okay no matter what. Believe in yourself and you'll totally be able to come out on the other side of it. And then you'll get to give advice to all the freshman freaking out too! If you ever wanna talk about it, though, you can message me about it. I don't bite and I definitely don't mind listening.
"I do what I do because I feel it's best. And if it makes me happy... Well all the better."
Try to do something unforgettable today. Even if you fail at what you wanted to do, you'll still have amazing memories.

high school pisses me the fuck off, excuse my french.
Middle school was annoying as well, mostly because people were thought they were cool for hanging out with high school kids.
High school is annoying because everyone thinks they're cool for smoking, doing hard drugs, and being a whore. And worst of all-your friends and their relationships. I swear...one of these days I'm going to slap all of them.
Mostly other people having relationships and people doing stupid shit and thinking they're cool makes it worse than middle school.
But high-school is beter in the respect that you only 4 years.then you're out. So if you just ignore them all and do your best to get out,you will go far in life. And that's where good grades come in....
Good luck,it may not seem so much like it after this, but if you find the quiet smart kids you'll be fine ;)
you shouldn't be overloaded, your classes seem normal to me.Mine was similar. Hated biology.
as for uniforms..well the older you get in high school, the less adults/teachers care. XD

As an upperclassman I can tell you what you shouldn't do so that people don't get pissed off (not sure if this applies everywhere but at my school it does). So for your well being keep the following in mind:
At most high schools you have more passing time then in middle school so don't rush off to class or you'll look like an idiot. (This pisses the upperclassmen off cos when we're all trying to get to our lockers to talk to people/ get our stuff the freshmen are pushing their way up the stairs to get to classes they don't need to be at yet and it's annoying cos then we're getting shoved around and it's unnecessary.)
Don't cut in front of people. Especially upperclassmen (although it isn't nice to cut anyone off the upperclassmen can't stand it at all). Don't budge in the lunch line or for any food at all and at any other multi-grade level events because it REALLY grinds our gears and most upperclassmen (maybe this is only at my school idk) will tell you to get to the back of the line or they will pick you up and move you back to the back of the line themselves XD.
Don't sass them either. Or go after any upperclassmen cos people get pissed or they only go after you cos they think it's a funny game (which is sick and it's something you don't want to go through-- I guarantee it).
Ummm... That's all I can think of for advice/tips, etc...

High school was another ball game for me my schools changed drastically and I started a month late :/
Ok on subject your gonna have more work and its gonna be a little over wellming at first find a scudeal that works good for you your first week such as work out a scudeal to where you can go from your locker to your class with out being late but don't go to your locker after every class its to much to handle! Trust me if your allowed to carry backpacks play on the safe side and carry your first two to three class books with you. Of text books are not provided in the classrooms what may be a good idea is to take the text books and put them in your classes before first period so you don't have to carry those heavy books around with you all day. Make sure you sit towards the middle of the class or on the sides nothing's worse than missing something important. Remember to be nice to your teachers nasty attitudes with them could get you a harder time in that class. Don't creep on them but try to Ingage in some normal convos with them ask them how are they what they ate for lunch non weird things
People in highschool are a little more mature (30% of the time)
But freshmen are still A little immature considering there fresh out of middle school try if you know people from middle school your social life has a bit of an advantage
But if your new if your mature for your age you should try to get in with some upperclassmen trust me there life saviors I was more into the senior crowd myself. Also get involved with school attend parties join clubs or sports do something.
If you chose to fly under the radar your first year that's great you don't want trouble and a bad rep when you still have three more years there but dont fly to under it you want to be known atleast
You don't have to be popular remember that!
Also be funny don't take things to seriously
For uniforms...umm we had them to put I kept the colors with just regular clothes I wore grey jeans and any white top I had with any green sweater and some shoes Iiked
But I did get a lot of uniform violations are many times I was close to getting suspiended :/
But because I was cool with security and the staff I got of with a fairly large amount of warnings
But most important have fun your freshmen year wi be great thins come naturally! So don't worry
Anymore questions feel free to pm me

High school is 10x better than middle school! There is absolutely nothing to be afraid of. On the first week, make a goal to say hi to at least ten different people. Remember that you don't have to limit your group to freshmen only. If a sophomore, junior, or senior is nice to you and wants to be your friend, be their friend. Once you have your group of friends, make plans to show some school spirit at a sporting event! You will have so much fun! As for the uniform, I've never had a full uniform, but one thing you can try is to wear a cool watch that will start conversations. Have fun and good luck!

High School is SO much better than middle school. The people grow up more and can handle being mature and you have almost complete freedom instead of having someone breath down your neck.
In general and especially with Honours, people have problems self directing. Middle school they hold your hand for you, while in high school you have to figure everything out on your own, OR ASK FOR HELP. They help you out but you have to be assertive and look for what you need. You'll have homework probably every night but its manageable. If you get over worked, ask your teacher for an extra day to finish it for full credit THE DAY ASSIGNED TO YOU.
The best advice I have is become friends with your teachers. There much more open and relate to you more in HS. I had a lot of family issues last year and my teachers would give me extra time or excuse work in place of a test. Be proactive and even if you don't know them well, you can definitely ask them anything and they will find a way to help you.
I think you'll enjoy the general atmosphere though. You're allowed way more self expression and freedom to be you! (even if you have uniforms.) I suggest you accesorise as much as allowed for that btw. Belts, Scarf's, Shoes. If your allowed bracelets attack yourself with those haha I go to a pretty open school where you wear anything you want so were all pretty fashionable and expressive
Hope you enjoy it!!! Make lots of new friends and have fun!

Is it weird that I can't even remember my first year of secondary school? Well, then again my first year of secondary school was in eighth grade... So I suppose it was quite a while ago.
My advice, just keep below the radar. Don't make yourself a well-known person, because that's just asking for people to gossip about you.
That and, keep a schedule of when you're going to do your homework and when the homework is due.
Secondary School wasn't very difficult for me in and of itself, but I had a lot of things in my personal life that affected my learning. So try to keep home and school separate.
Uniforms; no clue. We didn't have "uniforms" persay, we just had to wear our hallway colours. Mine was puke green for "Luke". Got to love catholic schools. >_>

What differed for me when starting high school was pretty much just that it was a much bigger school with more people, in High School people can be ass holes for sure. My only advice is to have a core group of friends who you can trust, having a few stable friends in high school helps a lot. This is said a lot but it's helped me a lot, just be yourself and stop worrying what people think so much. The uniform is a blessing, one less thing to be judged about! If you have any other questions I'd be happy to help

You have enrolled such good classes!!!!!!! Do well in them!(:
High school & middle school sometimes feels the same and sometimes don't. I'm a senior in high school. It's actually really fun once you get going! My school is split in half. Half of us are focused on trying to graduate the other half are focused on trying to make a lot of friends and be popular and just goof around!
The uniforms wont be such a big deal once you get used to them! maybe you could even add a little of your own style to the uniform!
But you don't really have much to worry about. Just have fun and stay relaxed about it! It'll all pay off your senior year! (:

I think if you just take it one day at a time, not worry about what's happening in the future, you'll do great at least, that's what I'm doing! haha!
