Angie Loves you :D, indefinitely [Avatar]
********FEEL FREE TO SKIP DOWN TO THE QUESTION*********
For all of you who have a play station or Xbox or what ever know that to play online you need to sign In
In my case I have a ps3 so I need to sign into my psn account well the other day my father and I were playing mw3
So anyway my psn id name is my name because I wasn't thinking and yeah it just happened
But while we were playing my dad noticed the name while waiting for the game to start and you know how parents get into lectering
You on things so basically he said it was dangerous and for me to change it
Long behold you can't change it (unless you have a Japanese account but I dont speak that language)

*******So anyway I guess my question to all of you
Is do you think it's that dangerous and I should just make a new account Or leave it as it is********

I mean Its not techilly my real name its my nick name which is Angie and my last name

You know how comman the name Angie is?!?!
Anyway any comment would be great!!

Btw if you want to play me on a game on the ps3 pm me and we'll make it work
Until stay stay radical! Emoticon: Smile :)

I see your Dads point that it is quite dangerous using your real full name on something that strangers can see but I do think he's overreacting because it isn't your full name, as you said, just your nickname and it's not as if you've got your full home address and phone number on there as well Emoticon: Tongue :p I think he's just looking out for you though, I wouldn't worry about it haha

Agreed. Your dad's just overreacting. No one's going to find you just because they know you go by Angie. They'd need a lot more info than that to get anywhere. Your father just needs to chill a bit.

I think your dads right, you shouldn't use your full/real name, but alas, you didn't. Emoticon: Smile :)

It's a nickname, and despite what we think, most people won't assume that's your real name either way. Just try not to get too close to the real deal next time.

It isn't very hard to figure out what your real first name is from "Angie" Emoticon: Tongue :p

I personally would change it because I'm paranoid about things like that. But in all honesty, there are probably many other people with your exact first and last name, so you're more than likely safe.

Do you have a reason not to change it? If you can easily get a new one, then I would. If it's a hassle and you'll lose trophies/friends/etc., then I wouldn't worry too much.

To be honest, as long as you're careful about other details (last name, number, etc) then there's nothing wrong with using a first name, or a derivative of. On a personal level, I rarely use my first name online (the exceptions being Facebook and the only other forum I frequent, and even that's a shortened version and next to no other details). Sure, using a short form of my middle name kind of amounts to the same thing, but it's less recognisable.

I get your dad would be worried about you, but I reckon he is having a bit of an overreaction, considering.

Note that Angie has used both her first AND last name as her PSN, not just her first.

That's definitely not the best idea. It may be unlikely that someone uses it for malice, but it's still not a good idea to tempt fate. Better to play it safe when it comes to full names and the net.

To me it depends on how common her last name is as Angie could be short for a number of things such as Angela, Angelica, Angel, Angelina, Angelique, Angelo, and even Angus. Someone would have to do some decent searching to find her and I still think her dad is overreacting but better safe than sorry.

It's easier to make a new account to put your dad at ease than it is to deal with him nagging, I assume.

Depends how many people you interact with on your psn acc. I personally don't interact with anyone.. I just play my games.. so it can and might be dangerous but no one is forcing you to explain your username, ya know? IF your last name isn't common, you could just say it is from a show you watch or a book. etc. A simple lie will cover it up if you cannot change it.
There's no diversity because we're burning in the melting pot.

I have two shirts and a hat with my last name on it
I'm not sure if it's against QA rules to give my last last name out......sooo imma play it safe and say no

Well anyway I think I'm goin to just keep it I usually don't talk to the people I don't know so I'm pretty safe but if you guys hear any news of someone being kidnapped in the state of Maryland and I haven't been on it a while you guys know why so you could help the police find me Emoticon: Smile :)
