I was talking to a close friend before and I mentioned that I wish I was born female. She then said I was transgender.

Is this true? Some of my friends say yes and some say no. It isn't the typical "If I were a girl I would look at my tits" thing, I literally do not feel comfortable in a male body.

It's very likely that you are trans, but I think you should really look in to it and see if you think you're trans

If you ask me, it's about whether or not you feel comfortable being the gender you were born. Do you feel icky in a boy's body? Do you find yourself squirming in boy's clothing, wanting to wear girl's? Do female gestures come naturally to you?

I don't think it's necessarily any of that. I mean, I'm trans, and sure I habitually cross my legs whenever I sit, talk with my hands and sometimes find myself resting my hand on my hip, looking rather ridiculous. But I've personally never felt uncomfortable in boys clothes. For me, it's always been more about the way people see me, not about wanting to do things perceived as "girly", although sometimes i wish I could.

In the end Garret, only you can figure out if you're trans or not, and QA is a great place to do it. PM me if you wanna talk about it. Emoticon: Smile :)

Being trans can mean different things to different people, but I would say that sounds like it. It depends on how you define yourself though. I'd just say keep exploring and maybe see a psychologist? That's what I did.

I do feel very uncomfortable (if that's what "icky" was supposed to mean) in a male body, as well as around most guys. I like wearing male clothes but crossdressing could be fun if I got the chance. I'm not sure what "feminine gestures" means...

My friend was surprised when I told her I wish I was female; apparently I'm very manly.

I do plan on mentioning this to my psychologist, but it's never come up yet.

Then you MAY be trans. I'd say think about it. If you think about it and honestly think you are a girl in a man's body, than be a girl. Just be who you are, not what your gender says you are.

I would do some research on transgender stuff and find out about different people's stories and the different options available. And maybe go to a few transgender forums, there is so much wisdom to be learned from some of them.
