Hey, I'm May. If this post sounds weird, it's because I'm pretty much shaking with adrenaline being here, even though no one else is home. I have my own computer but I will be deleting my history constantly anyway. I'm not really sure what my orientation is, but I know my parents would be devastated if they knew that I'm questioning. I come from a really religious family, who despite not hating anybody (except certain political figures, haha) believe that being gay is a choice, or at least that "acting on it" certainly is, and that you shouldn't do that. I'm allowed to be friends with gay guys (I only kind of vaguely know one, though) but I get the feeling my mom is creeped out by lesbians, even though she would never hurt someone for that. I went to camp with a lesbian girl a couple years ago, and my mom didn't really like her, at least.
I've been kind of long-winded and I haven't even really introduced myself, so let me start over. (Not erasing the first part, though, it's all relevant, so...) I'm May, I have three sisters and one brother, all of whom I love so much. I've struggled with my family's religion for about six years, but they don't know. I do believe in God (usually) but I don't know about much else. I love to read, write poetry, sing, and be a smart-alec. It is my dream to someday be a professional smart-alec, and I will most likely achieve this with a philosophy degree ;)
I've been totally silent about everything going on in my head for so long, I have a lot of pent-up talking to do, so sorry for the long post, it will probably happen again. (And again, and again...)

Hey, May, I'm Lauren from Pennsylvania, and it's nice to meet you Emoticon: Smile :)

I'm very sorry to hear about your family's beliefs when it comes to homosexuality, and I hope that they eventually changed their minds about it. All of us here at QA have either questioned our sexual orienation before or are still questioning it now, so you're definetly not alone, and there are a lot of people here who can help you figure it out Emoticon: Smile :) In fact, if you ever need someone to talk to about anything, feel free to PM me whenever, and I'll be sure to get back to you as soon as I can Emoticon: Smile :)

I also love to read, write poetry, and be a smart-alec, lol ;)

I'm very sorry to hear that you've had to hide everything for so long, but you don't have to do that anymore Emoticon: Smile :) You can tell us anything here since we completely understand and can help you in any way Emoticon: Smile :) There's no need to apologize for writing such a long introduction post; we love long posts here because it shows that you really put actual effort into what you wrote Emoticon: Smile :)

Anyway, welcome to QA! Emoticon: Grin :D I hope find everything you're looking for here and enjoy it as much as the rest of us do Emoticon: Smile :)
My idea of a dream world is one where no one is judged because of who they are. I hope that someday I can see that world come about <3

Hey, May ;) Welcome to QA !!
Ok, I have a plan: You figure out how we can make being a professional smart-alec into a sustainable life path and I enroll as your first pupil at Smart-Alec Academy !! Yes, I am so ready for this !!

Anyway, it sucks holding your feelings in from the world for so long so take advantage of being here and letting everything out. We're all great listeners and advice givers and anything else you need us to be for you.

Have fun and don't be afraid to be yourself. Your REAL self, not the one everyone thinks you are. Even if that means you get a little weird. QA embraces the weirdness. It's great !!

Oh, and I'm Erin and you can feel free to message me anytime for any reason at all ;)

Thank you all. I definitely feel better just from telling someone, even if it's people I don't know and can't see, and I appreciate all your support. I've been lying to everybody, even myself, for so long that I feel like a weight has lifted.

I am working on making smart-Alec-ing a career, and I'll get back to you with any progress Emoticon: Smile :)

It's a terrific place to just rant, go ahead.
Just don't be too smart some of us don't like figuring things out... Monosyllabic posts would suit me perfectly ;)

Keep strong. Emoticon: Smile :) You're really brave to come to a place like this when you've been raised in an environment like that! I hope things go well for you.
