BlogResponse: Why is it so hard to not be awkward? |
Smile If you keep a smile people will find it charming. Also compliment the person and ask them questions. Also, own your awkwardness!! Turn it into an asset. You are fine just the way you are

How am I not awkward?
Well cause I'm an arrogant little peach, that's how.
Nah, zoom out son. The same amount of importance you put on random people, and what they say, is the same thing they give to you. Everyday humans arn't judging us as often as we internalize.
I mean really, if you were the interviewer, listening to what you said, would you think any less of the boy for the questions you asked?

don't let my supposed "confidence" fool you, I'm still just a scared little kid. that doesn't mean I won't keep fighting.

As Skye said, I serious over abundance of undeserved arrogance gets me through it
But interviews are pretty much meant to be awkward and looking back and things, almost everything you would like a second shot at but you can't so what's done is done and I doubt it was as bad as you think it was

I've had a grand total of two 'official' job interviews. One I went in confident, then I stuttered and stumbled and forgot everything I wanted to say, and came out of it hating myself. The other I was terrified, didn't say all that much outside of answering questions, and barely made eye contact. Surprisingly enough I got that job...
Since then I've found the best thing to do is to fake it. It doesn't always work, and it can be extremely hard to do things like make eye contact when you feel like you're going to vomit from fear. The theory goes that the more you pretend, the less scared and awkward you get, and eventually you're not faking confidence any more.

I am the queen of awkward XD so I suck at advice for this kind of thing XD. Honestly, I will usually bluntly admit that I'm awkward and that seems to get people laughing and more comfortable XD. Then I just go about what I wanted to say or whatnot. Basically, if you can laugh at yourself then you just made everything lighter and more comfortable for everyone . I'm just super awkward so I take it in stride XD.

Like everyone else said, OWN IT !!!!
My username isnt awkward01 for nothing ;)
One day I just realized life would be a little easier if I just gave in to the awkwardness and somehow found a way to use it to my advantage.
