I know you guys have to move posts alot, but is the sarcasm really necessary? Im not trying to be rude or anything, but it's not like we're purposely posting in the wrong forum. We're trying...

Apologies; it's sheer frustration.

Yeah, I get where you are coming from. I've been on here for about 9 months and I still have a hard time placing things in the right forums sometimes.
But I don't think people are trying to be sarcastic about it, they are just trying to help you so that next time you know what goes where, ya know?
I don't think anyone has ever really been sarcastic with stuff like this, not that I have seen, but sometimes, with the internet, you could write something in a way you think is harmless and sensitive and someone will take it as offensive. Just one bad thing about the virtual world...
But, yeah...

There is some overlap between the forums, and often we don't bother moving things when they could legitimately go into more than one forum. However, nobody seems to understand that Queer Thinking is about debate, society issues and not advice or personal issues. I don't understand why it's difficult

Yeah, I guess sarcasm wasn't the best way to put it. They just sound really angry and I'm like "IM SORRY, I DIDN'T MEAN TO I SWEAR. *dramatically sobs in corner*"
But it may just be the way I took it, cause it is just type and you can't really hear them.

Grum-
Yeah, I see where you're coming from...
Maybe you post in all caps on each forum (cause nobody really reads the description at the top. I didn't until you guys said something about it) be like:
STARBUCKS IS ABOUT THIS:
QUEER THINKING IS ABOUT THIS:
But add a smiley face so nobody gets offended.
Just a suggestion though.

When all else fails and you can't figure which forum to put it in, stick it in openzone or in a blog.

Sometimes it's kind of hard to distinguish the lines sometimes, though, because sometimes personal issues deal with society issues and stuff and there are debates on personal, life issues and etc.
I mostly get hung up on MediaNet and Queer Thinking because society issues are in the news and MediaNet says news and it's confusing :/
But, I really don't think anyone who acted sarcastic about it really intended to be hurtful. I guess as a mod it would be stressful if it felt like no one seemed to understand where certain topics go. And as a longer-timed member it could seem kind of frustrating because you are so used to the layout here than a week-old member.

I think QT and MediaNet definitely have the biggest overlap, and we don't often move things between the two because of that.
Lauren makes a good point... the real challenge is getting people to read the instructions.

I've added some tips to the forum descriptions.

Cool.
I really want to say that we'll stop adding public ModNotes when we move topics. It maybe dilutes the importance of them. If we reckon most members are at least trying to choose the best forums, we could adopt a policy of simply messaging repeat offenders?

Yeah, either way I think it would work. But the mod notes have kinda helped me know which forums to put what in, but it's kind of annoying to see it there all the time and see it on other people posts. I think messages would work as well or better.
I like the tips btw, thanks for adding them Grum
