Church on lock-down after shocking video shows boy, 4, singing 'ain't no homos gonna make it to Heaven'

A church in rural Indiana has gone on lock-down and its pastor has fled into hiding after a shocking video emerged of a four-year-old boy singing a homophobic song.
The clip shows the child receiving raucous applause and a standing ovation as he chants 'ain't no homos gonna make it to heaven.'
On Wednesday, members of Apostolic Truth Tabernacle Church in Greensburg, Indiana, said they have received death threats over the publication of the video.

This is the video, it's not great quality but you can still hear this awful recitation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...player_embedded
 New Window

Basically, this kid has been taught to corrupt a song, originally written by a bishop with the original lyrics reading: 'I've told you time and time again, you can't make it to Heaven while you sippin' on gin' and 'I've told you once, I've told you twice, you can't make it to Heaven with a sweetheart and a wife.'

At the Apostolic Truth (TRUTH?!?) Tabernacle in Greensburg, Indiana, a congregation and its leader, watch and listen as a 4-year-old boy - A 4-YEAR-OLD BOY!!! - sings the words he's been taught:
Ain't no homo gonna make it to Heaven.
When you watch and listen to the video, it's actually hard to discern what this toddler, TODDLER, is saying. He is, after all, 4-years-old! However, when he reaches the climatic line of the song, his words ring crystal clear. That's good coaching.

Outrage doesn't even begin to describe my emotion right now. I'm sure that those one "the other side" of this great debate will argue that parents have the right to teach their young as they choose. However, teaching intolerance at such a young age should be criminal on some level. I'm entitled to my opinion. Indiana is the city where Billy Lucas was bullied to his death for being perceived as being gay.
Did the Apostolic Truth Tabernacle rejoice in his death? The kids who were responsible for bullying Billy until he couldn't take it anymore were groomed by people just like this!!!

A four-year-old has no idea what a "homo" is! Nor should he. So, why is he being taught to be intolerant towards them. Can he even successfully recite his ABCs? Can he successfully count to 100? I don't know that answer. I do know that he can stand in front of the "church" congregation and sing the words "ain't no homo gonna make it to Heaven". And, that's beyond repulsive.

Shame on the Reverend Jeff Sangl for "preaching" hatred and intolerance in a place where the message is supposed to be one of love and acceptance. Shame on a congregation that comes to their feet in a standing ovation as this toddler sung those words of intolerance. In listening to the video, you can hear the good reverend saying "that's my boy!!!" as the toddler finished singing.

The world is watching as America finally begins to show its true colors. "Christian nation"? Hardly. God is love. That's written in that book they like to cherry-pick verses from and twist to fit their own bigotry. Jesus Christ, according to their book, came to spread the good news of God's omnipresent love and acceptance. How in the hell did it get twisted to the point where it's now a haven for bigotry, hatred, and intolerance!!?? Anyone who can answer than and figure out how to turn that misguided ship around will, no doubt, win a Nobel Peace Prize. Meanwhile, the world truly is watching, while shaking their heads in disbelief, as the religious fanatics of this country continue to make a mockery of God and religion. The unfortunate thing is the casualties of their war are young people. Shame. I'm ashamed to call Christianity my religion when I hear things like this.

I saw this video last night and was disgusted. I can't stand that people think it's okay to indoctrinate children to believe in this sort of hatred and bigotry. And I hope that church gets shut down or something.

Its bad enough that they have those thoughts but to raise children with these ideas is just wrong!

If I had a child I would never have him to grow up hating straights, or belittling straights, or force him to be someone who he isnt!

This made me feel sick! The way people cheered killed a bit of me inside!
Interviewer: According to you, the girls run the world - but what do you think about the girls and the gays teaming up and running the world together?

Beyoncé: Well, that's what I meant when I said girls. (Laughs)

I think this is upsetting, yes, but it does say in the bible that gays won't go to heaven and I'm not going to criticize someone for doing something they believe is right. If- and only if- their intentions are good. Death threats? That's not going to get anywhere. These people need gradual change to learn that God is love.

I still hate how it's taught to a four year old though. At that age the kid probably doesn't understand why he's saying it, he should be taught the principles and allowed to decide for himself and I really hope that nobody goes after him for singing what he was told to.

Elle, the same place the bible says homosexuality is wrong also says you should not wear clothing of two materials and should not plant two different crops in one field. According to the bible, Jesus died for our sins so everything in the old testament that said we wouldn't get to go to heaven was kind of cancelled out.

Unfortunately, many churches like this one twist the bible so it fits their beliefs. This is disgusting. This kid has no clue what he is saying other than people like it.

I agree the death threats were a profoundly stupid idea. But who knows if they were even given by gay people? Death threats are just going to give them an opportunity to say "see how persecuted we are? Christians aren't allowed to proclaim the truth without being threatened with death! We're such martyrs!" It's just giving them what they want. In an odd sort of way.

And there are other lines in the Bible against homosexuality, Katie. Namely 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, which is the one in which Paul says homosexuals will have no share in the kingdom of heaven.

can you imagine if it all turned out to be true? Like, you just die, and then open your eyes and realize youre about to be judged by god? We'd be all "Where am I... aw, shit". Emoticon: Tongue :p

Fucking disgusting. I can't even watch the whole thing. It's just too horrible to see this hate coming out of the mouth of a child.

Katie, I get what you're saying and I know it seems stupid but you shouldn't change the rules just because a few seem weird. That same place (Leviticus, I'm guessing?) also talks about incest and rape. I'm not going to make those less of a sin because there's some weird rule about clothes that seems ridiculous.

I never understood the conditions of Jesus' forgiveness. I still don't know if it's everyone who believes in his Resurrection or if you have to repent and try to stop sinning to be saved, so you could be right. But I agree, it's horrible how they encourage hateful behavior.

Oh my God that is horrible. I am Catholic, but I belong to a liberal parish and am utterly shocked sometimes by how much hatred some people hold for people they don't even know. Love thy neighbor, anyone?

I agree with you. Christians like that are making Christians like me look really bad. It's shameful... I have a feeling they would like that song at my family's church :/ they're southern baptist. I do not go to that church simply because of how anti gay they are. It's a weird experience listening to "your" pastor yelling about the sins of homosexuals while you sit there awkwardly...

What really disgusts me about this video is how everyone always cheers at that line. Aren't Christians supposed to want others to be "saved"? Why do they seem so happy about our supposed damnation?

I feel bad for that poor kid. He dooesn't even know what he's saying. Any parent who has their 4 year old do something like this is not fit to be a parent.

That is disgusting. Like Jesus is more worried about LGBT people than people who dying of disease and starvation in 3rd world countries. Makes total sense. I am glad I am a part of a Synagogue that is not only welcomes LGBT people, but has an LGBT program.
