ok, so i just had a discussion with my brother and mom.
i dont really know how to take this, but was kinda offended.
if someone were to say that if they were to take 10 gay guys, that 7 would be the stereotypical feminine gay, what would you say?

It makes me so mad because they assume that being a feminine person is bad!

I'd say that there are many types of gay person and no matter how you present yourself and how you feel inside is perfectly okay! Noone can judge them for being themselves.

I would simply not give a damn. That's the best advice I could give you. There are so many things you can worry about. So many things. And to waste your time thinking about what someone says isn't worth your time.

That's exactly my point. I don't feel anything. People say what they want. Let them.

I agree with Paul. I probably wouldn't feel anything about it. I really just wouldn't care if I heard someone say that. I might let them know that femininity/masculinity and sexuality aren't even closely related, but I wouldn't be mad, offended, or anything like that.

It would irritate me, not because they were stereotyping, but because they think so many gays really are like that. Most stereotypes have some truth behind them, but to say that that many gay men are feminine is stupid because that really IS stereotyping. Saying that a gay guy is feminine is not stereotyping, if that's how he is- saying that so many of them are feminine just because some of them are, however, IS. :/
The world breaks everyone and afterward many are strong in the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially. If you are none of these you can be sure it will kill you too but there will be no special hurry. -Ernest Hemingway

I don't think I'd be too angry, because that sounds more ignorant than intentionally malicious. I'd probably be annoyed with 'em, though. That's a stupid thing to say.

For something like this I would probably feel neutral. I would assume they're saying that because they don't realize that it's not true. Most likely, they only notice the feminine gay guys because their gayness is so clear. I would simply educate them that this is not true. If they insisted that their stereotype was right after that, then I would be mad.

I wouldn't say that that's a fair statement, some gays will be feminine just because that's how they feel, but some will still be masculine. It doesn't matter what others think, just believe what you want to believe.
