BlogResponse: Am I the only one who has a problem with music? |
Yes! This is why I really want to be a musician. I want to make good music popular! No auto-tune or fake stuff or generic lyrics.

I mean as a drummer in a experimental post-hardcore band i like messing around with different sounds. I mean music today is just catchy as hell. Like, i still have Payphone stuck in my head iand its been like a week since ive heard that song xD

I AGREE WITH YOU WHOLEHEARTEDLY!
I like real stuff, not synthesized fake voices and sounds. It has a lot more value to me if I know it came out of real human lungs or an actual tangible instrument.

I don't like the popular music of today, but there is a TON of good modern music out there, you just have to know where to look. PM me if you want some recommendations.

Real musicianship still exists (my main point comes across at 3:05 if you want to skip to that...)! (Even if you're not a fan of the style, you've got to admit that takes talent, yeah?).

Yea. I stopped listening to the radio when I realized I was suffering through about 80% of the music and it was one of the best things I ever did. LOL. I still don't know who One Direction are and I definitely prefer it that way.
Although I'm not really sure if it was the music that changed or me because I used to like certain pop music and now it annoys the hell out of me. It really sucks that crappy, meaningless music is what sells, but that's just how it is. I think I read somewhere that catchy pop music has a psychological affect on people that makes them want to listen to it...idk. I do know that it's incredibly addictive though. You know that song that goes "Hey I just met you and this is crazy but here's my number so call me maybe" of something(I don't know what it's called) I've only heard it once (i'm not even sure where I heard it) yet it got stuck in my head forever. If that's not evil, I don't know what is

I like today's pop music. Not all of it but some of it. I'll listen to pretty much anything but DubStep.

Pop music has always been mostly lame. There's good music out there, just like there has been in every generation. You just have to search a little harder.

yep i completely understand! I mean there's always gonna b exceptions to the rule (yes, like Adele who has an exceptional voice) but as a whole, pop music today is pretty disappointing to me.

I'm so torn when it comes to music nowadays :/
I realize that times change, and at first I absolutely hated turning on the radio to new music, but I guess I've realized that it's not all terrible. I do hate auto-tune though.. it bothers me that so many good singers go under the radar, and then someone will write one song with a catchy pre-recorded beat, auto-tune their voice, and make a million.
But as I said, it isn't all bad. So long as people don't forget how music used to be, things should be okay. (But of course I worry.)

I think you really should find some indie music to listen to. I've never had a problem finding modern music that has good musicianship once I stopped limiting myself with music that is only played on the radio.

The new music nowadays barely has any meaning. Plus there's that whole thing where it seems no one really needs to know how to really sing to become famous. It's kinda frustrating... I like the older music too.

There is a radio station I like to listen to. However it plays easy listening music, which most of is older music.:

No, you are far from the only one. It's pretty common to dislike mainstream music. Once you realize it's a business more than an art, it becomes easy to dislike it.

I am wholeheartedly in agreement with pretty much everything said above. If I want to find new music that I actually like I have to actively hunt it down nowadays. Of all the songs over-played by mainstream radio stations and music channels in the past few years, there's only been one or two that have been genuinely good (to me, anyway).
