I'm assuming she's mtf since you're using feminine pronouns..? Or is she ftm? In which case I imagine masculine pronouns would be more appropriate..?

There isn't a "why" to whether or not someone is transgender. If you were referring to her attempting to pass then I don't think you really understand her all that well. "I’ve come to think of her as that soft, sweet, adorable girl that I know is on the inside" Please tell me she is MTF, because this sentence is really confusing. If not you really don't understand her. Ignore me if either of those point are off. Alright?
Secondly, try to slow yourself down. It is perfectly alright for things to move quickly and for you to care for her so soon. Just don't let it get out of hand. Bare in mind that you have not met her. Don't let that hinder you but be careful of your emotions. I will warn you, as the partner of my wonderful FTM boyfriend, that dating anyone who is transgender is not easy. It's hard and you will almost certainly get a lot of shit for it from certain closed minded assholes. That said, don't be afraid to love someone. Love can come quickly or slowly, just be able to recognize it when it arrives.

ps. There is a difference between caring and love.
pps. Sorry for the rant.

Of course she's MTF. Who the heck would call a boy feminine? Wow, sorry if that sounded rude.

Charles: Yes, you are right, I don't understand her. I try my best not to make that claim, because right now, I have a crush. A pretty big crush because I'm so new to this 'crush on someone I have a chance with'thing, but it's a crush all the same. I would never claim to be "in love" this soon, because that's silly (I'm 17, not ten XD)

As for the question about why she isn't trying to pass: I just don't get why someone who is out as trans wouldnt try to pass as their true gender. It may sound ignorant, but then call me ignorant. I'm sorry if it is...

Thank you both very much for the reply Emoticon: Smile :)

Gender isn't black and white. There is such a thing as being gender fluid and MTFs especially face a great deal of discrimination. It can be very dangerous to attempt to pass and fail.
There are plenty of guys (FTMs included) who are feminine. And some people are fucking stupid. They can't see someones gender and only their sex. It's great to hear that I was wrong! It's good to know there are still some decent people out there.

We where actually talking today, and I get the not attempting to pass. It's not as easy for MTFs as it is for FTMs. I mean, I have a ton of FTM friends, and they all have short hair, wear boy clothes... but I get it now. A person with the physical sex of female, can dress in boy's clothes, and be a tomboy. A physical male can't do the same thing without being judged. It's no fair really.

And I know that gender isnt black and white. For a short time, I thought I was a bit grey. But now I don't think so... I also know that males can be feminine... I don;t know what's wrong with me. I've been super insensitive online lately. :/
