So there are a number of new websites claiming that Raven Symone is in a lesbian relationship!

What do you think of this news?
Is it good for the LGBT community?
Any other opinions?

I think this would send a positive message to younger children that it is OK to be gay. Its defiantly not going to send a bad message, especially if she confirmed it.

It's also reported that she is in a relationship with AzMarie, an androgynous model from this season of Americas Next Top Model.

I think if the reports are true, it's just another great addition to our community. I loved That's So Raven when I was a kid and she's a talented actress Emoticon: Smile :)

I heard about this. I think this could be good, actually. A child star growing up and identifying as LGBT could show children that being LGBT is okay. I wait for the day there is an open LGBT character on a Disney show.

Lizzie is dancing :). [Avatar]
I wish Disney would integrate LGBT into their stuff some of the time just to show little kids that LGBT is okay and stuff...

Yeah I heard about this today...
(with my older-than-the-stuff-she-teaches US History teacher...bashing her 'choice'...)
I agree It could be good if she really is gay. But it'd have larger ramifications for the community if she actually came out in a public manner rather than letting the gossip swirl.

I don't think it could really impact us much if she did come out. She's not really such a huge star, at least anymore. But good for her if she does. Gotta say, never saw that coming on the Cosby show.

I heard about that. I was actually going to post about it yesterday, but the websites it was on weren't very reliable as they were celebrity gossip websites (similar to TMZ) so I wasn't sure if it's true or not.

And then I got to thinking and even if it were true, I don't think it would affect the LGBT community much. I mean, if you look around there are tons of LGBT celebrities from different generations: Ellen, Elton John, Adam Lambert, Chris Colfer... and the list goes on and their coming out hasn't really affected the community one way or the other, so I don't think Raven will either.

Raven made a comment about the rumors, saying that her personal life was no one's business but her own, and she will date who she wants to date, boy or girl. I think that just the fact that she didn't deny it, pretty much means she wouldn't mind a relationship with a girl, whether she's actually dating a girl right now or not. Even though there are many other LGBT celebrities, I've always been a big fan of Raven, so to me, this makes her even more admirable.

I remember reading about this on Afterellen, and then dying of laughter because I remember I had a HUGE crush on her when I was nine and watching That's So Raven. I'm proud of her for the statement she put out saying that her personal life was her business and no one else's. If she is gay or if she isn't she's still an amazing person and actress.

She's stated it a thousand times that it's her personal life and people shouldn't be so nosy- but maybe she shouldn't have been famous than.. I'm excited that she's considered part of the LGBT though- she's an amazing influence and I honestly think a wonderful role model.

Adding on the the Disney talk- disney hasn't made it clear yet if they are LGBT- but with specific things they attempt to show 'flamboyant' characters in shows.

In HM her designer, hair dresser, and planner (different people) showed a flamboyant attitude. All men with specific 'homosexual' fashion.

They are very proud of having the stereotypical TV gays on Disney.

Good for her, if she is... but it doesn't sound like she will confirm or deny it at this point.

That's because it is her business, and frankly, I believe that we should all stop thinking about it, because it really, really, really makes no difference. Why whould it? Does it make her any better of a person? Does it make her any better of an actress? No. It's her life, and her business.
