Topic: Are You Serious?

So, everyone has moments when someone says or does something and you have to ask yourself, "are you serious?"
Well, I'm located in the "Bible Belt" and, as a lesbian out to few people, I think I may have to ask this question more than I should.
I have this guy from my biology class who knows I'm gay and we were talking about having kids one day.
This kid was convened that because I was a lesbian I could not have kids.
According to him, because I did not like guys/penis that I could not have kids. Luckily, I was able to set him straight (I hope so).
Has anyone else had this kind of ridiculousness happen to them?

When I came out to one of my 'best friends' in HS...
Well... A little background on the school and the friend first. I used to go to a catholic school run by nuns. So we're drilled religious stuff since forever. And my friend was a self identified lesbian, until she met this guy in our highschool and she 'turned' straight. We were pretty close, so close that we didn't really keep anything from each other. So she was the first person I came out to and when I came out to her... this is what she told me
"You're not a lesbian, you're too much of a girl."
Are you serious!? I... disliked the uniform we had to the point that I would break the dress code more than once and go to school in my P.E. uniform or my military training uniform. Whenever we had a non uniform day, I was in classic jeans, a band t-shirt, and good ol' converse. I was obviously... gay. So yeah...
"Being straight is too mainstream. Being gay sounds better"
"Its always just gonna be the sidelines for a kid who can't find it in themselves to take up the challenge and do something about a problem. Instead of putting them first, why didn't you put yourself first? Now you just lost more than you could have gained"

I remember one time I was sat in my lesson and I heard this group of guys from across the table whisper my name. After seeing them glance at me numerous times it become apparent they were talking about me, so I decided to lean closer and listen in.
After a few minutes one of them says "haha, I bet he like, fancies all of us because lets face it, he's gay and all gay people are so desperate for bum they'll go for anything they can get!"
No word of a lie, quite a huge, "Are you being serious!?" erupted from my mouth and I accidentally-on-purpose let them know exactly my response to that.
So yes, that was my big "Are you being serious?" moment.

^ Ugh, I hate it when straight guys say that. They say it about girls too. "Yeah, she was just wants my dick". And I'm like "you're not some hot piece of shit that everybody just instantly wants. You're not even that attractive." I actually said that once to a straight friend of mine when he said that same thing about girls. Luckily he's never said it to me as an insult to gays, but it's still ignorant and sexist. He was my friend, so it wasn't much of an insult, but I just can't stand it when guys act like chauvinistic assholes.

All the fucking time.
I've met people that actually thought you could spread homosexuality by touching a gay person.
Like for real.

I have these moments a few times a week, but that's mostly because I go on YouTube. Some of those comments can be really fuckin' stupid -_-;;

Yes. I mean, I have not really thought about having kids, but when someone just assumes and then flat out tells me that I CAN NOT. Okay, though I have not really thought about having kids in my future, I was pretty offended when some random people decide to write me off just because I do not want to have sex with a guy. It is just not right.
