Topic: Favorite Documentary?

May seem a bit nerdy of a question, but I personally love a great documentary. I recently watched one, "CNBC Originals: The Facebook Obsession" and I fell in love with it (new favorite). What are everyone's favorite documentaries?

Can I list all the ones I've seen? *_*
No? Okay. I really like the food based ones. I really liked Forks Over Knives, which was interesting to watch as I was a baby vegetarian. I've been trying to find Fast Food Nation, but it's not on Netflix. I'll probably have to rent it.
Then, there are the lgbt ones, of course. I watched 8: The Mormon Proposition and it broke my heart, but it was really interesting as well. I rather liked For The Bible Tells Me So, but it wasn't really a HERE'S SOME INFORMATION documentary. It was more like: here's a story, let us tell it.
I always try to take the documentaries I watch with a grain of salt because, as I lean toward the politically charged documentaries, I realize that most documentaries will try to change my mind on things.

I'm not actually all that fond of Michael Moore's films. He's (probably) a great guy--he funds our film festival and renovated an old theatre in town--but his films are SO biased. That's what I meant with the "taking things with a grain of salt" comment.

"7 Days, 17 hours". <3 It's about the Pony Express. I love it.
The world breaks everyone and afterward many are strong in the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially. If you are none of these you can be sure it will kill you too but there will be no special hurry. -Ernest Hemingway

"Bowling For Columbine"
It's a documentary tackling the gun/murder rate issues in the U.S. trying to answer the question "Why does the U.S. have a higher murder rate than any other country? What makes us so different?" They use the Columbine Shooting as one of many examples of murder. It also challenges the 2nd amendment.
In the end, it is seen that the U.S. media instills FEAR into its people by showing murder after murder on news programs, shows like cops and 48 hour mystery, and this fear is ultimately what sets the U.S. apart from the rest of the world.

^There's a link to watch the full documentary on YouTube if anyone is interested. Be warned though, it's about 2 hours long.

anything animal related.i could watch animal documentaries for hours.however,i'm kinda bored with documentaries on crocs, alligators, big cats and snakes, they are so prevalent.animal autopsy (popped in my head) was really interesting.they dissected an elephant,a whale,a giraffe,a croc and i can't remember the last one.each episode featured one of these animals and lasted for an hour.seeing how these animals are made up and how their bodies changed and adapted for survival was amazing.the whole time i was wishing i was one of the experts dissecting the animal

hehe @Evan you're awesome!
Well, Cosmos is one of my favourite television programs of all time. I learned so may things from Carl Sagan that I can't even begin to list them. Seth Macfarlane is making an updated Cosmos, starring Neil DeGrasse Tyson, who was actually one of Dr. Sagan's students. That might come to be my absolute favourite documentary EVER, if Dr. Tyson can enrapture me the same way Dr. Sagan did.
Watching Cosmos, when Dr. Sagan floats under the cherry blossom trees, asking questions about gods and purpose, is as close as I get to a religious experience.

The Union: The Business of Getting High
We actually watched this in a debate club I was in last year after debating about if marijuana should/shouldn't be legalized.
It's an interesting movie, with some great facts, and I strongly recommend watching it if you are anti-marijuana.

I just love documentaries haha, especially when they're engaging (although, if they're about something you're interested in, I'm sure they'd be engaging nonetheless).
I watched Bill Bailey's Remarkable Guide to the Orchestra, and it's pretty much Bill Bailey explaining the various aspects and nuances of the orchestra in his own quirky way ;) It has the BBC concert Orchestra, and it's probably the best documentary movie I've ever seen xD Honestly, if you're a music lover, I definitely recommend it
I also saw a good one about the Aérospatiale Concorde, (I'm pretty sure it's called 'The Concorde Story') which was epic simply because it was about the Concorde, and it had some excellent footage of the aircraft (especially the pre production models)

I liked Religulous, the Bill Maher movie that tells clearly why all religions are, by nature, dumb.
My other favorite would be Indie Game, just because I'm a huge fan of all the games they make in the movie, and it was cool to see the work that went into them.
