Hi guys,
It has come to my attention that a lot of members have been creating threads in the wrong forums. This is not too big of an issue as it can easily be amended, but moving 20+ threads every day is tedious and I am sure we can all agree that QA Staff should be spending their time doing more productive things, such as helping and supporting members. If you are unsure of where your post belongs, please read the Forums Index for forum descriptions, and if that does not clear up any confusion then there is no harm in contacting a member of staff.
If you are in need of advice, Starbucks is where you want your thread to be, as placing it in the wrong forum may result in a lack of responses. Also, creating blogs for the purpose of seeking help is not advisable nor should blogs be used for this reason. Blogs are for expression and life updates, and aren't looked over as much as threads on the forums. This means that you may get no or very few replies, which I am sure is discouraging if you are in need of help and may also lead you to feel isolated from the community. Please do not forget that all members of staff are here to not only monitor QA, but to assist all of its members too.
Moreover, a lot of threads being created are poorly named and this may also result in a lack of responses. Generic titles like "Help me" and "Advise needed" could easily cause members to mistakenly take your thread for one they have previously contributed to, and it also makes it harder for members searching the forum as most searches tend to be for something specific.
I cannot stress enough how important it is that you follow our guidelines and co-operate with us, as we are here for your benefit and no-one else's.
Thanks,
Lucas
QA Community Manager.

Thank_you!!
I have been noticing a lot lately, 'Moderator Notes': moved from (QT to StarBucks), name changed from "Help plz!" to "[...]".
I can see how it mustget a tad tedious for QA's staff.
hi.

One of the problems is that people just don't bother trying. It's like littering the street in the knowledge that someone else will pick it up.
Most members do treat QA like their own home, I think, and that's fantastic. But if everyone just took a little time to know and respect the way things are done -- wherever they are in the world, wherever they are online -- we'd all be happier bunnies.
A tad idealistic, perhaps.

I hope I'm not stepping on any toes here, but this also goes for blogs.
If your blog is directly asking for input, advice, or other interaction; it should be a thread. This doesn't mean your blog can't have questions in it, just don't make the question the only point of the blog.

I would like to "bump" this topic.
Many topics recently have been named rather useless titles like "Help!" or "Advice"
Better titles lead to better answers.
Instead, these titles should be more aptly named "Help with clothing choice for prom" and "Advice on how to break up with a controlling boyfriend."
This also makes it easier for QA'ers to find previous topics using the search function.
PLEASE make use of QA appropriately. It's hard to follow when things aren't correctly labelled or in their respectful places.
Sincerely,
A concerned QA "veteran", though more appropriately named QAninja.
edit: this post is in no way a personal attack on anyone in particular.
also, thanks to Jayne for making me my banner :) <3

Cheers for the bump.
I'm finding myself doing a lot of moving and renaming. This really isn't a good use of my time.

A) BUMP! just bumpin' the topic
B) another thing around here that really irritates me is how i see things being put in forums that really should be placed in blogs. there really are quite a few forums that should be blogs!
i see so many forums called "i just came out!" and "she dumped me" and they do irritate me.
it will be alright in the end, and if it's not alright, it's not the end yet.

It is understandable that if you have first signed up and do not fully understand that you might use the wrong forum and titles. It is also forgiveable if you slip up every once in a while, but if you continually place your posts in the wrong forum and title them wrongly then this is not acceptable.
It takes less than one minute to open the Forums Index and check the descriptions of the forums to see if you are putting it into the right place. If you are unsure, please ask. I have just spent an hour moving topics out of ONE forum and renaming them. It is incredibly time consuming and as Grum said, a waste of our time when something we could be dealing with more important matters.
QA staff is run by volunteers. We dedicate our time to making QA the best it can be, and not just for ourselves, but for YOU. Please take that one minute to check the forum descriptions before you post.

@Adam, I think people get a bit thrown by the blog or thread thing. It says above the blog editor that the writer should consider whether they want a direct response from the reader... I've had a few where they could be either blogs or forums...
just give me a reason/just a little bit's enough/just a second, we're not broken/just bent we can learn to love again/oh, it's in the stars/it's been written in the scars on our hearts/we're not broken/just bent we can learn to love again.
