Bit of a random advert, but I do like that they used a lesbian couple! That lesbians are in an advert that isn't focused on LBGT issues will help to normalise the idea of same-sex relationships I hope. Although admittedly it could just provoke an angry outcry, but live in hope!
Are they insinuating that the key to making a relationship last is sex? ...
I am glad that they're treating lesbians equally. Now maybe if it makes it onto the air it'll begin to make a difference. Has anyone actually seen it on air?
"I am reminded of a colleague who reiterated 'all my homosexual patients are quite sick'—to which I finally replied 'so are all my heterosexual patients'." -Ernest van den Haag, psychotherapist
I don't think that is what they are trying to convey, no. Most of the commercials start out with some sort of detail about the relationship between the two people.
I don't watch a lot of TV, so I don't know if it has aired. The fact that they made it at all is a pretty big deal for people.
"You don't have a soul, you are a soul. You have a body."
What I liked most about this commercial was the normality. As Lynn said, there were no common stereotypes going on. A normal couple, a normal relationship, a normal sex life. We need more portrayals of LGBT couples in this light.
"You don't have a soul, you are a soul. You have a body."
I believe that the message in this commercial was that the first partner found the K-Y Intense. As you hear, the second partner tells the first partner that it was a good purchase at the end. Also, the "key" is supposed to be a healthy sex life, and the Intense increases that.
"You don't have a soul, you are a soul. You have a body."
as someone who has seen a lot of Tv and memorizes commercials i can verify that this is a normal KY commercial the only weird thing is that usually they don't have the couple in the middle of the firework but whatever.
what I like about it is that the market isn't men as most commercials with lesbians are. this is for couple, specifically female/female. it feels ok to be marketed normally to i suppose, even though i have no intention of believing anything in this commercial i find it amusing and could see why someone would buy this after watching.
god i need to stop applying Literature thinking critically lessons to everything.
Oh my goodness, that was amazing. :3
Totally fantastic; it made my day!

― John Green, The Fault in Our Stars
Haha, great commercial.
Back in February there was a picture of a lesbian couple kissing on Hot Topic's home page for the Valentine's Day sale. I love how the media is using same-sex couples in advertisements now.

Yay! This makes me so happy!
I've noticed more and more gay couples casually thrown into media. Grey's anatomy does it a lot. They'll randomly have one of their female patients and her wife on the show, or other casually lgbt patients.
It's nice that lgbt people can be shown without having to make any kind of statement about them being gay.
