So, I was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder this past year, and the psychiatrist told my mom to put me in a DBT therapy class. Tuesday was my first class and it was horrible. It was like a slap in the face that these people were what other people saw me as.
Is anyone else on here going to a DBT group or has BPD? has anyone ever taken a DBT course? Is it worth it? Does it really work?? Is it really the only way to become "normal"?

I know people who've taken a DBT course, who have really enjoyed it and benefited greatly from it. From my understanding it's a great course, for people with anxiety and depression, to gain coping skills.
I'm not sure how effective it is for people with BPD. If you don't feel that it's benefiting you after a few more classes, let your therapist know.
Different approaches work for different people. You never know if something will help until you've given it a shot, and it's possible that's why they put you in DBT.
Give them feedback, if you continue to find it wrong for you, so you can go back to the drawing board and try something else.
Also, even if you continue to have the BPD, you're still a beautiful person. No one should make you feel less for it. I hope that you find something that helps you cope, though.
Best wishes!
