I love indie... and pretty much all the girls at my school do, too. It's rather strange.

And I'm just a Lady GaGa slut v_v

Personally, she makes me furious because I hate her songs BUT THEY'RE SO CATCHY! I will admit, the music video for telephone was hilarious Emoticon: Smile :)

I like pretty much every genre including pop but I find Lady Gaga pretty obnoxious. People seem to confuse the fact that she's different(gimmicky in my opinion) with having real substance. Her music is catchy but that's about it. There's nothing elegant or evocative about her work. Also I think she's sort of ugly :0

I must admit that I think it's catchy but It doesn't have any meaning to it, it has no...substance.

I mean, yeah, she's original/different to the average pop singer but her music is still the same as many others. It's just... o_o

I don't hate her, but I can't say that I'm a fan either. She's quite good at what she does, but what she does isn't anything special or appealing to me.
I'd firstly like to point out that Lady Gaga has only written 2 songs independently to date (both Elton John-esque piano ballads - go figure).

Her producers and co-writers deserve a lot of credit for her chart success - as is the case with most pop artists these days. On The Fame, Nadir Khayat took Gaga's unmarketable brand of theatrical piano-pop and transformed her songs into mainstream dance-pop hits. And that's all her songs really are, fashionable and disposable pop tunes with lyrics catchy, yet simple enough for the teen masses (who comprise most of the market since the introduction of iTunes) to digest.

She has a few nice ways of feigning avant-garde though, through the use of obscene costumes (though Grace Jones, David Bowie, even Roisin Murphy had done this before her), big budget film clips and a few obscure lyrics. She does just enough to appear fresh and innovative to those lacking reference points. All the same, Lady Gaga knows just how far the envelope can be pushed before she becomes irrelevant, so she happily adheres.

While her vocals are stellar and her lyrics and melodies are extremely hooky, her real talents lie in her musical instincts. She's been able to take elements of successful pop stars from by-gone eras and combine them into one neat, marketable package; with the guidance of several trend-setting producers.
Senses dissolve into soliloquies; flooding ascent in synchronicity.

I don't hate her. It's more like... I'm creeped out of her. Imho her music is good, I like it how she shakes borders - and I have to say, the starter of the topic could make up better arguments that "she isn't original". No one in this world is original.

However, her music videos are full of murdering and raping and whatever - it's creepy. Her songs don't really have a "deeper meaning". (If there is it's not a good one.) They're just songs, nice to dance to, nice to sing along, but meaningless.

But I find one think really funny; http://ghostsmut.files.wordpre...1-400-400-1.jpg

See? Mons†er? I'd think that's unconscious influencing, people start to connect crosses with monsters, Christianity with monsters.

Gaga is interesting, creepy and has nice meaningless songs.
That's my opinion.

Edit: I've read through that Illuminati conspiracy crap and some of it is clearly just the writer looking into it too much... But then there are some things that totally creep me out as they might actually be true. *shudder*

It really depends on the person this is for everything. Do you like it? Do you not like it? Or You do not have any sides.

Personally I like some of her songs, and some I don't like. Her music videos are creepy, but that's just me. The media does give her a lot of attention, but I do like how she supports LGBTQ rights.

For me it's my third option. I don't like her a lot, but I don't mind her.

First, she isn't "ripping off David Bowie", she's paying tribute to him. Second, if you listen to her pre-gaga stuff she had very deep lyrics and she played acoustically with just a piano and a microphone. She has become much more pop-related because that is what our culture wants, and by doing that she has been able to raise awareness to LGBT abuse all around the world. I think even if you don't like her, using the word "hate" against her is quite honestly wrong when you see what she's done for LGBT citizens.

I wouldn't call it hate. But I really dislike her/her music. Maybe a lot of my distaste comes from her being everywhere and everybody going, 'Omg LADY GAGA!! She's the shit!'
