English is the only language I'm fluent in but I know enough Spanish and French to survive living in their respective countries. I know a little Latin, and some random words and phrases in German, Italian and Russian. I hope to learn Russian, Welsh and Afrikaans in the near future.

My first language is French and second is english. I think it's a great experience to know more then one language. I remember when I went on travel to learn english. I was a monitor in a youth club and I remember one of those little kid who asked me:
''Victor, do you always speak weird like this?''
That made me laughs Emoticon: Tongue :p.

English is my first language, and am fairly decent at German. At home, my father will sometimes speak some French, so I know a little of that, but I'm better at Spanish.

Danish is my first language.

I also speak English, Swedish, Norwegian (pretty much the same as Danish) and German.

Quite a bit of Dutch and Polish. A little Spanish and Italian and a few phrases of Latin.

I live in the US and my school only offers one year of Spanish. It's not required, though. I took Spanish and I've been going to a Japanese immersion summer camp for the last 3 summers, so I can speak way more Japanese than Spanish. Emoticon: Tongue :p

I want to learn as many languages as I can. I feel like it gives you an understanding of different people and their culture a lot more, and I think that's really important. Not many people around me seem to share that view, though.

schools in the US do teach foreign language, but not enough so that you could actually go to the country and survive.
My first language wasn't English (it was Greek) and if it was, it'd probably be the only language I'd be fluent in.
The caged bird stands on a grave of dreams
His shadow shouts on a nightmare scream
His wings are clipped and his feet are tied
So he opens his throat to sing.

The caged bird sings with a fearful trill
Of things unknown, but longed for still
And his tune is heard on a distant hill
For the caged bird
Sings of freedom.

French was my first language, Spanish my second and English last. Then they stopped speaking in French and Spanish to me so I lost the majority of those two languages until I took French in school again.

The part about US schools not teaching foreign languages is completely un true. In most states its actually required to take a foreign language. In cali you have to take atleast 2 years of a foreign language to graduate from highschool. So i speak english y un poquito de español (a little spanish)

In most American colleges it's required to be fluent in two languages. Emoticon: Smile :) I'm able to read, write and understand Spanish, but my accent makes it difficult to understand my speech. Emoticon: Tongue :p
