Topic: The "spread of homosexuality"...

Is anyone else bothered by the phrase "spread of homosexuality"?
It bothers me to no end to hear people complain about such things. Homosexuality doesn't "spread". You're not going to make your kids gay if you're a gay parent. In fact, you might make them less inclined to mindlessly followed society's gender stereotypes...how awful...
And then people will say "but if people think it's cool to be gay, then they'll join on the bandwagon!" Uh, being gay doesn't work like that.
When I see stuff like this:

I get angry.

I cannot believe that book actually exists. People can be really dumb and insensitive sometimes.

Thankfully most of the reviews on Amazon are 1-star reviews, but it still scores higher than Crossroads of Twilight...
This kind of thing only hurts kids. It's foolish and ignorant to believe that it's something you can prevent and it's something that spreads. You're only going to meet dead ends with that attitude. And you may end up hurting your kids.

yeah. true.
and also I don't see why people think 'being gay is cool'
because no. its not..its really hard, we take more shit than anyone and its not like we decided one day 'oh hey! from now on I will start being gay'
thats stupid. and this kind of stuff also makes me very angry :/

exactly! we arent butter that is spread upon the bread of life! we just rock =P. but in all seriousness of the topic, it is totally ridiculous. my parents are heterosexual and i turned out to be gay. obviously sexuality isnt learned because if it was i would be hardcore straight because my dad is the biggest male pig ever when it comes ot women >.<
i also think gay being "cool" is totally uncool. i feel bad saying but if i ever had the choice before i experienced this life i would have chosen differently so i wouldn have to deal with ridicule, ignorant dad, and annoying familu who uses the prayer phone line to call the church folk up to circle around me and pray it away =/.

Probably the only time I'm actually upset and disheartened by things like this is when you bring in evolution. And the fact that all species have males and females genetically engineered to reproduce. Putting aside all else, thinking about it evolutionarily is the one thing that ever stumps me and makes me question why I am this way.
So kudos book, to making my head jumbled for the day.
You're stubborn, hard headed, sheltered, impatient, angry, and altogether you irritate and frustrate me more than anyone else on the planet. I love you.

I consider it to just be a fluke. I don't think it has to have any evolutionary purpose. I don't view a person's purpose in life as being to reproduce. And who says that I won't reproduce anyway?

What's really worrying is that I explored the site and found not one book like this but MANY. And some with good reviews. One review that ended, "Ex-gay and happy!", totally sincerely.
Wtf is wrong with these people?

True Noah, with current technology we can reproduce. So maybe homosexuals were made because God knew that humans would invent superior technology for all these "genetic anomalies"?

Some have speculated that homosexuality is like a control on population growth. You don't have to be a genius to look around and see that we, as humans, are depleting natural resources at an alarming rate. So we're a teeny percentage of the population that doesn't reproduce through natural means. *shrug*
And yes, the term "spread of homosexuality" is awful. Same as "the homosexual agenda." Makes us sound like carriers of some sort of disease. That link was especially disheartening when you look at all the related books beneath it. My only solution at present is to ignore them, and try and show people that we, as queer kids and adults, are just as well-adjusted as the next person. Show acceptance by example and all that.

If the idea that homosexuality is way of population control is correct, then it would explain why there were less homosexuals in history. The population simply keeps on increasing, and the larger the population becomes the more homosexuals there will be. Homosexuals were not necessary while we were living in caves, so everyone was straight. Now that the human race has become overly large, more people are homosexual for a natural population control.
Ecosystems are perfect balances. Each species has a specific purpose to main this balance. Humans are threatening this balance. We have already caused extinction for many animals and we put the earth at risk. While nature does not think, the ecosystem has realized that there are too many humans, and that humans have eliminated all their natural predators that would usually keep things in check (large animals, disease ect.). In response to the crisis, the only population control left is homosexuality.
I've been thinking about hell, and it's got to be a much nicer place than heaven... all the gay men are down there. You KNOW it's well decorated.
If being gay is a disease, lets all call in queer to work. "Sorry, cannot come to work today, still queer".
Real Lord of the Rings fans know it's not a trilogy.

Ugh i hate books like this! Normally i'll read a few pages and have a good laugh at the ignorance of the author. It's all a bunch of idiotic bullshit
And on a sidenote i don't know about anyone else, but i don't like to think about myself as a "natural population control."

Haha, nothing sounds particularly appealing in scientific terms. Of course, I don't mean to offend! The "population control" idea is a good rebuttal to those people who say that being gay has no place in the order of things. Quite obviously, they're wrong.
And I'm sure that plenty of straight people dislike being thought of as "breeders."

that's the MOST hilarious book I've EVER heard of. How STUPID do you have to be to create a book like that and think there's "clinical and true evidence" to support that belief. XD
Books like this make me wonder if their authors were dropped on their heads one too many times.

DUDE
Did they really make that book?
How stupid can you be?
That's like saying: "A parents guide to preventing your son from having blue eyes: How to have sex correctly" ...I mean, seriously. ...>.<
That's absolutely unforgivable. So stupid. Why would they publish it?
It isn't a DISEASE, it is how you are born...omigoshness. People need some new brains, eh? xD

This book reminds me of my next door neighbor, who made her nephew "ungay" when really he just has to lie to her and lead a secret life. She also told my mom she thought i was gay, and that she could send me somewhere.

Another 'psychologist' waving around bad science, whoopee! Gee! Why do people fall for this type of fallacious trash at all? But considering that the author is part of an organisation http://www.narth.com/
that's affiliated to Focus on the Family - what can you expect?
