I was wondering how many QA'ers have heard of the website Gives Me Hope. For those of you who have heard of it, what are some of your favorite ones? For those who have not, go to givesmehope.com and read them. They are really powerful.
One of my all time favorites is this one:
I was reading about a little kid whose mom told him the key to life was happiness. When he was in school the teacher asked them to write down what they wanted to be when they grew up. He said happy. They said he didn't understand the assignment. He said they didn't understand life. My generation GMH

Thank you haha. At first I thought it would just be a bunch of boring made up crap but I really took a liking to it. Here's another:
Today, I proposed to my girlfriend of four years in a nice restaurant. When she said yes, the entire restaurant stood up and applauded.
We're both women.
Understanding of true love GMH.

I LOVE that site.
Here's my favorite recent one:
"A baby girl started crying on the bus this morning and someone asked her if she knew Jingle Bells. The little girl didn't answer, so the person started to sing. After about a minute I had counted nine people, including parents and myself singing along. Spontaneous bus choirs GMH."

A month ago at my school, a transgender student was beaten to the ground for standing up to three other students who said that our campus hates gays. The next day, nearly half the entire campus rallied to show support of the LGBT community in the quad. The student that was beaten was crying. GMH

This Is Cute Too:

Understanding of true love GMH.
And...
Today I found out about a 10-year-old boy who has been harrassed by his classmates because he refuses to say the Pledge of Allegiance. Why? He says that until gays and lesbians have equal rights, there isn't really "liberty and justice for all". Kids with the courage to stand up for their fellow human beings GMH.

Today, I was in a bus station saying goodbye to my girlfriend.
Me, being a lesbian, kissed her and hugged her for a long time. After she got on the bus, a little boy comes up to me and hugs me. He said, "My mommy doesn't like people like you, but I do because you're really pretty."

This site makes me so happy!. Here's on of my favorite's:
In our school, each student has to make a report in front of the class about someone they admire.
My friend reported on a quiet girl in class, admiring her kindness. We all cheered in agreement. The girl was crying.
Later, I found out that was the day she'd decided not to kill herself. GMH
It's sad but really sweet. I'm glad there are still good people in the world.
I've been thinking about hell, and it's got to be a much nicer place than heaven... all the gay men are down there. You KNOW it's well decorated.
If being gay is a disease, lets all call in queer to work. "Sorry, cannot come to work today, still queer".
Real Lord of the Rings fans know it's not a trilogy.

Though I am a bit of a pessimist, that site made me smile a bit involuntarily. I would love to quote one I found but my phone doesn't allow copy and pasting
These days, my life,
I feel it has no purpose.
And late at night these feelings swim to the surface.
Cause on the surface the city lights shine,
They're calling at me 'come and find your kind.'

I'm so going to check out that site now.
@Lena- I've been that girl. In fact, just last Thursday this website's "I love the person above me because" thread did the very same thing for me that that small speech did for that other girl. This website renewed my sense of hope and I feel so much better about myself than I did at the beginning of this school year. And I'm so grateful for this website and all it's members, especially Tommie, Doc, Eleanor, Lena, and Kitty Kat. (in no particular order) You know who you are, those of you mentioned. I love every single one of you, and more so the people I forgot to name!
Whan it all boils down to it, this website GMH.

Wow, after 25 pages I just couldn't hold back the tears any longer. It made me realize how much I miss my dad, however flawed he may be. I called him up just to tell him "I love you".

My new favorite: On the night of Dec. 30, Haleigh Hess from Kent, Washington posted a suicide note on Tumblr, a social networking site.
In minutes, over 400 of people responded her post to gain awareness. The local police dept received over 60 calls from all over warning them, and they got to her in time.
Hundreds of people who have never met in real life coming together to save a stranger GMH.

When my sister was younger she came home from school one day and demanded I take her to the library so she could get books on sign language.
I asked why? She told me there was a new kid at school who was deaf and she wanted to befriend him.
Today I stood beside her at their wedding watching her sign "I DO". GMH
Aw this one is so sweet :')

Everytime I read this website I start to cry. D: Where can I meet these good people? At least I have a goal now...to be a little more selfless.

I read all the love ones.
I cried a lot.
My girlfriend thought I was silly for crying, but if she read them, she would know how cute they were.
Please know I'll never run away without you in my arms.
