Topic: An Ode To O

This poem was actually an English assignment, w had to write an ode about a letter of the alphabet. I happened to choose my favorite letter, O. So, here goes. Please give me feedback, I can take it.
O
O is an open invocation,
An exclamation, a realization.
Remembering something you forgot.
A dawning comprehension.
An olive tree at the Acropolis--
Or any -opolis, really. An ocean's rolling motion.
A porthole,
A window on the world.
Or the world itself.
O's orb suspends itself between consonants,
A lovely round bead to make a word
Warm. Like mellow, or flow.
Or glow.
O is the love you lost,
The mouth you opened
To speak the words that never came.
Possibilities that once seemed possible, questions left wide open
Waiting, hushed, for answers.
O is the cracked crater of some other planet's moon,
The croon of a mourning dove,
Like a moan.
Or Mona Lisa.
A mystery.
O is a perfect expression of infinity,
An imperfect C, completed.
Eden's apple before that fateful bite,
It's the tunnel that we see the light through
The sun burning a hole in the sky.
O is a foghorn,
Like whalesong, woeful and slow.
Oh, O.

This was just lovely. You really have a gift! It takes a certain ear to know when to break a line, and you've definitely got it, IMO. Also great language and imagery.

Beautiful.
It takes a creative mind to do what you have done.
Much impressed.

I was extremely drawn by a poem about a letter. Loved it.
You're stubborn, hard headed, sheltered, impatient, angry, and altogether you irritate and frustrate me more than anyone else on the planet. I love you.

I think rhyming poetry with good imagery is hard to write and this is really great! who knew the letter "O" could be so complex.

love.
and am particularly drawn to the line about
"-opolis"
for some reason. probably because it's witty and clever...
...awesome.
