I would definitely.
There are so many fascinating places in the world with so much history where homosexuality, if not illegal, is certainly very looked down upon/discriminated against. Heck, there are parts of the world where I would love to go where /women/ are looked down upon just as much, and it's a hell of a lot harder to hide your sex!
I wouldn't expect a romantic getaway, as others have said, but if you're traveling to experience history and culture and a new environment, attitudes against women/Americans/homosexuals would be extremely unfortunate but wouldn't stop me...my sense of adventure/curiosity to know everything about everywhere is too great to rule almost any place out (unless it was really really dangerous of course).

I live in Algeria, and it *is* illegal over here.
But what can I do? So I voted for the first option at the poll?
Over the rainbow it's not quite right

At the traffic lights, howling at the sun.

England is also an english-speaking country.
And totally over-romanticized by the media.
Sammidude's right, you just wouldn't do that in a Chavvy area.

My "home" is currently in Bahrain, smack dab in the Middle East.
There are very strong rumors over there that homosexuals are now being deported.
I haven't heard a confirmation of it yet, but I wouldn't doubt if it is true.
I'm so happy for vacations.

I agree with Hoco. You would also limit yourself incredibly if you didn't want to visit places where homosexuality is looked down upon, not necessarily illegal, but seen as extremely deviant.
Laws are socially constructed so going somewhere where homosexuality isn't illegal but isn't generally widely accepted, like a few states in America is going to be almost similar to an experience in a country where it isn't legal. The fear of expressing yourself publicly, making gay jokes etc etc.
Europe, on the whole, is more accepting but that doesn't mean that homosexuality isn't still stigmatised in many cases. In England, homosexual civil partnerships are legal and people are now starting to accept it more, but that doesn't mean that people are confident enough to frequently flaunt it, by holding hands with their partners or being affectionate in public.
In many cases, homosexuality is still seen as socially deviant and wherever you go in the world isn't going to change that view, no matter how open-minded the country is. Illegality of homosexuality - although primitive - is just a severe extension of opinion on the orientation, whether for fundamentally religious belief or whatever.
I, personally, would not limit myself from experiencing other countries because they do not tolerate homosexual behaviour, as much as I disagree with the prejudice.

Are we not travelling to these places because we don't want to be affected by these laws and get stuck in a grotty jail cell for six years or are we boycotting?

I would if there's anything worth doing. I'm not gonna let the semantics of society ruin my vacation. If I want to go bungee jumping or whatever then I'm not going to let a stupid law outlawing homosexuality stop me. Just becuase the country's legal system is well behind the times doesn't mean I'm not going to try to have fun. The old standard: "Their problem, not mine."

maybe, but not with a boyfriend. =/ I need the contact too much.
There's a lot more places I'd like to go where homosexuality is legal, that I haven't seen yet, anyways.
If I never knew you. I'd be safe but half as real. Never knowing I could feel a love so strong and true.

I'd definitely go. I don't usually find people I like that much on holidays anyway. Plus, I can still check people out. No one can arrest me for looking.

Can't arrest you, but if you are caght looking, you could end up in some really dangerous situations.
As to if I'd travel somewhere homosexuality is illegal :
I would, but I wouldn't bring along my gf.

Yeah, if you just look, the police can't do much (although they might try, who knows), but bigots could see you and hurt you. And then the police would not do anything.

No, because I don't look like I'm checking someone out when I'm looking at people I like. I promise, I look the same whether I look at someone I find attractive or at someone I find nothing special. If I flirt though, then that isn't too hard to notice, but I wouldn't do that.

From Findings of Human Rights Watch’s Investigation:On the afternoon of June 18, 2004, a mob chased and reportedly “chopped, stabbed and stoned to death” a man perceived to be gay in Montego Bay. Several witnesses reported to Human Rights Watch that police participated in the abuse that ultimately led to this mob killing, first beating the man with batons and then urging others to beat him because he was homosexual.

I just wouldn't bring along a girlfriend, as has been stated, or hook up with some chick while I'm there. Then I should be fine.
It's also not often you hear about women being affected by these laws. They usually target men.
