And then there's the truth... So, recently, I've been asked to read my friends novel and to be his editor. I'm pretty much known for "mothering" people a bit and being there to pat people on the shoulder and telling them it'll be okay (which I really do love to do!) so I think he kind of wanted me to just read over it and stroke his ego a bit. Thing is, though, when people ask me my honest opinion about anything I have to give it. I'm not going to lie just to stroke someones ego. I think it really upset him a bit when I didn't, and I just told him my honest opinion of the book, which was that it could use some work, but I knew he could do it.

I think this is something people forget about me a lot. Yes, I am a teenage girl. No, that does not mean I fall all over myself giving fake compliments and then turn around and be catty. It's just not who I am. If I tell you I like your eyes, I think you're eyes are amazingly pretty. I'm genuinely giving you a congratulations on your genetic combination that makes up your eyes. When I say I think you could've done better writing something, I mean I think that you have more talent than you showed. I'm not in things just to make people upset or just to stroke someones ego.

I don't understand why people don't get that about me. I'm telling the truth. If I say I like something, I like it. If I say I don't like something, I don't. While I am aware of your opinions and feelings when you ask, they are not effecting my opinion of whatever you're asking about. People should feel free to be the same way with me too. Maybe the truth hurts, but a lie is deadly. It's like the difference between a cut now, and a huge infection later. Yeah, the cut will hurt more, but at least I have to worry about picking out bandaids instead of coffins. And if it means I can avoid coffins, I'll wear as many bandaids as I have to.
