Every year my church has two camping trips--the family trip, which consists of doing whatever the fuck you want, and the youth retreat. So the other day my mom was talking to her friend from church and the friend asked if I was going on the camping trip. I had already said I wanted to go on the family trip, so my mom said yes. Her son said "Good, I haven't seen her around in awhile." and when my mom came home, she told me this because she thought it was nice. That's when she realizes that they were talking about the youth retreat, not the family trip. Unlike the family trip, where it's pretty much every family for themselves, activities for the youth retreat include (actual quote from the website) "Singing, praying, teaching, games, campfires, swimming, and" I kid you not, "TOMFOOLERY." Tom-fucking-foolery? Who the hell talks like that.
So, anyway, I'd already told my mom that I didn't want to go and therefore I wasn't going, but now she's saying all this bullshit about how I'm committed to going now. Why? Because you fucked up and told them I was going? What, did you sign a contract saying I had to go? As much as I love campfires and swimming, I think I'll pass on the praying, teaching, and "tomfoolery". And games and singing are okay, but since we'll probably end up playing something like Christians and Romans and singing songs which involve spelling various religion-related words, I can't say I'm too excited. You know what we should play? Crusaders and "non-believers", in which instead of the Romans trying to "brutally murder" (actually just tag) the "good guy" Christians, the Christians go around doing the same thing to anybody who refuses to convert to their religion. I think it might be nice for these kids to have a change of perspective, since most of them are only taught about the people who persecuted people of their religion and never hear about the times when it was the other way around. And, mom, about the whole "trying to guilt me into going by choice by reminding me about how disappointed your friend's son will be if I don't show up" considering he once spent an entire episode of glee calling Kurt a fag and correcting everybody who used male pronouns for him, saying "Don't you mean she. HAHAHAHAHAH!" I don't really give a damn about disappointing him. views: 186 responses: 0 posted by SamIAm2 on Friday 20 July 2012 at 2:53AM BlogResponse
