I’d always been nervous about letting people knowing my sexuality but, somehow, people always found out. I’d asked friends if it was obvious, but all I got was a mix of answers. Then my sophomore year of high school brought its biggest problem possible. To protect the anonymity of the person involved, i will call them by the generic name Jack. Jack was one of the star player of my school’s soccer team. He was, admittedly, the most attractive guy I’d ever met, and a real sweetheart to boot. Before sophomore year, I’d always considered athletic guys to be nothing but ignorant pigs whose only thoughts were on their sports. After I met Jack, however, I realized just how wrong I was.He was new to the school that year, having moved from another area in the state, and I thought I could help him get started. Instead, I fell head over heels for him. The thing that started the whole fiasco was the second-to-last preseason practice before school started. It was a Monday afternoon and a real scorcher of a day. I was retrieving soccer balls from the woods on the edge of the practice field when some movement near midfield caught my eye. Jack was hunched over and panting, sweat cascading down his brow. I turned to go grab his water bottle but what he did next stopped me. Reaching to the hem of his shirt, he slid it off and tossed it to one of his buddies. My eyes widened and I felt my jaw go slack. “Oi,” the coach called, snapping me out of the trance “someone get Jack some water.” Remembering what I was about to do, I ran over and snatched up Jack’s water bottle from the bench and ran to hand it to him. “Thanks,” he said, reaching out for it “I needed this!” As he took it from my hand, his middle finger brushed the back of my hand. Bells and whistles went off inside my head and my left foot felt like it was falling asleep.
The next few months were the most torturous of my life thus far. It led me to make the confession that really opened the doors to hell for me that have been throwing demons at me ever since. views: 209 responses: 1 posted by Forrest on Monday 16 July 2012 at 9:38PM BlogResponse
