![]() Future LGBTQ Youth Center
We all know, that there are some cases where a child will come out to their parents, and their parents kick them out.. But sometimes, that child has no where to go if they get kicked out of the house... So my best friend and I want to change that.. We want to create a LGBTQ youth center, where anyone in the LGBTQ community can feel safe to go if they have no where else. We want to be able to help them find a place to live, and to be able to take care of them until they do find somewhere... But here is how this whole idea was brought up...
The other day, I got to hang out with my best friend. And since I am going into my junior year of high school, and he is going into his senior year, we were talking about what we would do after we graduated. I told him I wanted to go to school to be a police officer (which he already knew anyway, its something I have recently decided on and I have not really quit talking about it.. XD), and he wants to go to school to be an EMT. We are both passionate about the same thing, and that is helping people, and if needed, saving their life. He mentioned that he was going to go to South Carolina.. I was just kind of like "Oh..." And in my head I was thinking "He's leaving me... After he goes to South Carolina I will probably never see him again...." Then he looked at me, and he said he would love for me to go with him... Which instantly made me cheer up. I was not really sure where I wanted to go to school to be a police officer and now I do know... We had brought up the subject before of making a youth center for LGBTQ teens to come to if they come out to their parents and get kicked out of the house. He brought up the subject again, and he said he would love for it to be mine and his own project where we do get a center running, when we get to South Carolina... I thought that sounded absolutely amazing. Today we were planning out how we would like the place to look and how we could make it unique so it did not just look like every other youth center out there. We said we would want it to be two floors, with an escalator that goes between the floors, and we would paint the steps of the escalator to be rainbow colored.. And then we would have a wall for our residents hand prints and favorite quotes.. The vision that I have in my head of how I would want the center to look, is absolutely magical... Now I know when we get started on getting the whole thing together, the result probably will not be exactly what I had in mind.. But I honestly do not care.. As long as my best friend and I have the money to be able to run the place, and that the teens have a safe place to go, I am happy. views: 277 responses: 1 posted by CrowsButterfly on Monday 16 July 2012 at 3:19AM BlogResponse
