What Do I Say To That? "chelsea, lori told me you are coming home soon. you know i love yo and you will always be welcome but we don,t agree with the life style you chose and it is against God and we won,t have it here although you will always be welcome. love grandma"

That is what my grandma posted on my Facebook wall.

I'm lost for words to this. If this was anybody else I would tell them to "Fuck off" and all the reasons that they shouldn't have post this on my wall. But it's my grandma. I messaged her telling her she hurt my feelings because she did. Basically saying I'm welcomed if I pretend I'm not gay...

I want to say more though. I want to show her that being gay is not as horrible as she thinks. This woman has been divorced 3 times and the Bible says people should die for getting divorced..

I don't know what to do. I have a lot I want to say to her but I don't want her to "dissaprove" of me more than she already does...

Yeah, that's really too bad, it kind of sounds like she comes from a page from the past. There are a ton of things in the Bible that say you have to do them, like "lift no more than half a fig on sabbath day", well what about the minimum wage Christians working at Mickey D's 7 days a week? Hmmm?

p.s. A bible weighs more than half a fig.

put it on imgur.com and link it. It is quick and easy. You don't need an account, but I would recommend it.

Tell her that Jesus never spoke out against homosexuality, that every one of his teachings was about loving everyone equally. If she calls herself a Christian, then she has to follow the teachings of Christ. If she calls it a sin, point out that Jesus didn't come to help the righteous, but the sinners, and he didn't help them by trying to change them, he helped by accepting them and welcoming them into his group.

Suggest that she reads Mark 12: 28 - 31. And if she tries to quote Leviticus at any point tell her to read the entire book of Leviticus and say that if you're going to follow one part wholeheartedly then you can't just pick and choose to suit your needs, she should follow the whole book. But Jesus actually wrote off a lot of the old testament, so to call herself a Christian she must follow the teachings of Christ and not the old testament except the commandments.

well if she's gonna quote the bible, tell her you can too.

theres a verse that states if a woman is not a virgin when she marries, the marriage is invalid and she must be executed.
(I suggest googling it to see the full verse.)

so ask her if she was a virgin when she married. if she says no and you tell her about thus verse, it ought to make her a bit uncomfortable. >Emoticon: Grin :D

I haven't seen that documentary, but I've had religion-based arguments enough times to know how to disrupt them.

You could possibly include 1 Corinthians 13: 4 - 7 too.

And Sammy was referring to Deuteronomy 22: 13 - 21. It says if a woman is not a virgin when she weds, then she should be stoned to death, but as with any passage read it before you quote it.

It's really good and opened my eyes to what the Bible REALLY says.

I will do that. Not to try and make her seem like the bad guy, but to open her eyes that what she was taught might not be 100% correct. Maybe she'll be more accepting? It's worth a shot. Not like I can get in trouble for quoting the Bible. Haha.

o.e grandparents... you can't live with them but ya can't live without them...

Yeah, telling her she hurt you is the right thing to do. In fact, you should talk to her alone and tell her, with noticable respect towards her, everything in your mind when you read that... (I suggest you leave the bad words to the side)
I think that if you suggest those Bible verses, it would look as if you're challenging her. That would be seen disrespectful from her eyes, I'm sure.
I also think that would be plan B, if I was in your position. I mean, if she somehow didn't listen to your feelings, you should just mark the pages in the bible and give it to her, so she sees you stand up for what you believe in.

That's kinda it I guess ^-^ hope it turns out good.
GAY MARRIAGE
or as I like to call it MARRIAGE
Cuz I ate lunch today, not GAY LUNCH
And I watched television, I didn't GAY WATCH IT.

So marriage? It's a human right, not an heterosexual priviledge.
