Divine Creator? Today in biology we started to learn about the evolution of creatures throughout the years. Now this is strange seeing as I attend a Christian school and they seem to believe that everything was made by a man in the sky who seems to have nothing better to do with his time, than create a plethora of different animals and then watch as they are slowly corrupted by his greatest "creation". It all seems a bit sick to me...

THe thing is, this video offered so much evidence against what religous people seem to want to believe. Everything is interconnected, and these aren't just hypothesis', there is cold, hard evidence to back it up. I just wonder how someone can believe in all this creator crap if there is so much evidence against it? Do they like to remain ignorant to the fact that there is proof against them?

Ok, I'll admit that I wouldn't mind exploring some of the less known religions, but they'd have to offer quite a good view point to change me over. I mean if there is a religion that is accepting of the LGBT community, doesn't use fear tactics to get me to follow and is just generally good to people, then by all means I'll join today, but until then ...

im not religous but i think thats kinda the point. i dnt think the literal God and heaven ideas are suppose to make sense acroding to science. its a spiritual thing so its outside the realm of how we think about the world. i think. i agree thought if only religous people didnt abuse their beliefs to hurt people and take away rights. cuz there are alot of people who are helped by religon and if people would stop using it to spread their hate it would be a much better thing. a great thing really.

They'll just come up with arguments to circumvent it:

6 days could actually be millions of years to God.

Neanderthals were not pre-cursors to humans, they were just pre-Flood people.

Maybe God set evolution in motion.

That last one doesn't sound too awful in my opinion; because that reflects the beliefs of deists, and I do have respect for deists even if I don't really agree with them. Nonetheless, it doesn't even have to be deists. My mom is a Christian but believes full-well that the creation story is mythical and not meant to reflect reality and believes God set evolution in motion.

It's a hell of a lot better than hearing fundamentalists say "God put fossils on the earth to mislead us."

I think religion was created to give people questions to answers they didn't have answers to. And the thing is, especially throughout history, people strongly believed it, because religion was their only source of hope, and almost everyone didn't know any better.

Today, I honestly still feel like (certain aspects) of religion are there just to keep people from thinking for themselves. Instead they're told not to worry, and that there is a god that will take care of everything for them.

Parts of religion are good, and some religions are actually very open minded, but there are many aspects of certain religions I don't agree with.
