Oh, Brother... My moms boyfriend has a two-year-old. He's the best thing ever, and I love him to bits, and he always calls me his brother.

Except.

He lives in a different town, and just last night he came to my house for a weekend visit. For the first time ever, he's beginning to realize that I'm a girl. He called me his "sissy", told me that I couldn't be a brother. Gave me all the pink game pieces, because apparently I like pink. A lot. He's catching on, and needless to say, I'm not too pleased about it.

Now, I know that he's two. I know that whether or not he realizes that he should be calling me "she" or "sissy" has no real bearing on my masculinity. But he was the only person who consistently called me "he", "that guy", "brother", and I just wish it could have lasted. It's not the end of the world, but it still hurts.

In any case, the little guy is adorable, so it's hard to stay upset when he's around. I'm off to play superheros with my baby brother, like any good big bro would - and that's what I plan to be, whether he realizes it or not in that adorable two-year-old brain of his. I'm going to be a great big brother to that kid.
