Opening Up To Friends and Labelling Well. I opened up to a friend today. As she opened up to me.

Turns out we're pretty much the same person behind the bitchyness, the crazy and the anger.

We're both screaming on the inside, pretty much hating ourselves and holding back the tears day by day.
Talking about it to her literally reminded me how shitty life is. I pretty much broke down in French class.

Then, after school, I went to a group chat room with my friend to meet her boyfriend (Don't ask.) and guess what she introduced me as? Taylor. And then asked me if I could tell him "the truth". And by that she meant that I'm not biologically male.
What did she end up telling him?
"Taylor is actually a girl and she is my bff from school and she's a lesbian and she's transgender."

Every time I she used the wrong pronouns was literally like a punch in the face.
I thought she UNDERSTOOD or at least would use the correct pronouns since I came out to her roughly 1-2 months ago and have explained it several times to her. :/

Seriously.
I then explained AGAIN that I'm FtM and she was like "You're a lesbian right?". My response? "Firstly, I'm a guy. SO HOW THE HELL CAN I BE A LESBIAN?!"
"I'm confused." was her response. I'm a guy in a girls body. That isn't confusing at all.

What would be confusing would be... Uh... Being a catfish that secretly turns into a dog at night. That would be confusing.

So glad Animal Crossing arrived today. I'm gonna lock myself away in my new town, Berries, for a few hours. It'll cheer me up. I'm bringing my DS to school tomorrow just to escape to Berries when I need to.

Gyeh.

Hey. I'm a catfish that secretly turns into a dog at night. That isn't confusing at all.

But seriously, that sucks. You'd think friends would try to be a little more understanding about this stuff.

Puh-lease.
I'm a cat, who's disguised as a human, in disguise as a platypus who's disguised as a dog, who's disguised as Kermit the frog.
>_>

Your friend seems almost there, like on grasping the whole situation, just not completely.

Actually, to someone who doesn't quite get it, the concept of transgender can be very confusing. I, personally, didn't grasp it well until just this year. The divisions between gender and sexual orientation can be a tricky thing to get.

However, referring to someone with the proper pronouns, /especially/ a trans person, is just common courtesy. You need to tell your friend, without mincing words, that you are a guy and should be referred to as such. Try to make it as simple as possible for your friend.

And make sure she knows how much it hurts when she calls you by the wrong pronouns. A real friend doesn't want to hurt other friends, so knowing that she's been unintentionally hurting you will likely snap her into place.

Of course, if you start to suspect she's doing it intentionally, that's another story altogether...

Good luck ^_^
