Art of forgiveness, patience and second chances. Everyone, meet Braxton Emoticon: Smile :) He’s a 5yr old Connemara pony. I got him on loan from a friend of the family, who just wanted a field to keep him in. He had been given to a yard two years ago who beat him up while trying to break him in. They said he was dangerous; a thug. So, I asked if I could take him on.

I started with join-up. Everything I had read about Monty Roberts’ work. Patience, respect, time. I had this pony for three months, and not once did he try to act up. I sat on his back three times before he had to go home for the winter. Brax didnt try to hurt his rider.

I get really emotional when I talk to people about Brax. I think it’s because nobody believed in him. Everyone thought he’d just end up in a field, wasting away, because he was ‘dangerous’. People always want the quick-fix…

Im taking him back for the summer next week. I’m hoping to be riding him a lot more this time and see where we get. He’s a gorgeous pony. He’s quiet and gentle and he’s definitely one pony who’s changed my mind and the minds of others who know his story. Emoticon: Smile :)
