Blog Entry: Coupon Fail

Coupon Fail So, yesterday was my first day of work. Not very exiting, more completely droll and boring. But there was one spot of amusement that made me smile a bit...

I was training on cash register all day, and about halfway through my shift the training lady was like "Hey, let's let you actually ring people up!" So I start checking people out, and it goes fairly well. There were only a few problems. [step one; encounter problem. step two; turn on blinkey light of devine intervention]

Near the end of my shift a lady comes down my lane and I begin the usual check-out prosess [Hi, how you doing, then ignore person and ring up the items in silence]. This particular lady had a few coupons that she wanted to use, so she laid them down on the belt-of-doom [it won't stop spinning!] just like people usualy do. Only when the belt-of-doom starts spinning, the COUPON FALLS BETWEEN THE BELT AND THE GUARD. Like, "hey, i'm gonna spin now, oh BYE COUPON!"

So i called for help and we spent much time looking for the coupon. we found an 8 year old gift card, a quarter, parts of plastic bags, even some cat food bits, but not the coupon. My friend, who was there to witness the event [he claimed he was "shopping"] said that he'd been working around cash registers for a year and he'd never seen that happen. So I guess I'm a particularily special cashier!
