QA BlogBase Guide

Guidelines and Etiquette

Welcome to QA BlogBase - Blogging With Attitude. If you're a first time user of the BlogBase, then you must read this section to gain an understanding of the feature. Respect your surroundings, read the instructions.

The best way to sum up what QA BlogBase is about, is intelligent concepts, rantings, opinions, creations maybe, and general life perspectives. That by no means is a definitve list, but we would ask that whatever you post to BlogBase is worthy of being here. One paragraph entries about something trivial isn't really what we're after for Public/Members Only entries.

One of the key differences between the blogs and the forums, is that when you post a topic to the forums, it's intended to start a discussion, or to get feedback. Writing a blog may be used in the same way of course, but it's main emphasis will be expression, rather than discussion.

If you need advice for example, you should probably post to the Starbucks forum, and not to BlogBase.

So really, all we're saying is, the BlogBase deserves thought - and a little effort with regards to spelling and grammar will keep everyone happy :) Doesn't have to be perfect, just has to be understandable.

Happy Blogging!

So how does it work?

  1. Every member has a blog, which you can name. To name your blog, head to the Update page. If you leave it blank, it will simply use your display name - for example, Displayname's Blog.

  2. You can upload an image to each entry you make.

  3. You can upload a default Title image for your blog. If you don't upload a specific image for a particular entry, it will use this default one.

  4. You can make every individual entry either Public, Members Only, or Private (Offline) for when you just want to unleash your thoughts without an audience.

  5. Other users can leave comments on your blog. The first comment, or BlogResponse, on an entry will create a new topic with the same title as the entry. This means discussions can not only be accessed through the BlogBase, but through the BlogResponse forum too.

  6. There is a link to your blog from your profile.

  7. You can also access users' blogs by heading to www.queerattitude.com/blogs/username/

  8. Well-written blogs with emotional or intellectual merit may be Featured on the Mainpage at the discretion of the QA Team.
