Yesterday, I went canoeing on a lake with a bunch of my friends. I'd never been canoeing before, but we got off to a good start. The reason they technically currently ban gay men from donating is because gay men currently have one of the worst STI's rates in the UK. Statistically, including gay men on the blood donor list would increase the amount of infected batches of blood that escape checks because the screening process for STI's is not perfect.
